Careers For Graduates in Bachelor’s Degree Programs for Organizational Leadership

Careers Organizational Leadership

Of any degree a student can earn, perhaps none have the versatility of organizational leadership.

That’s because quality leadership is needed across every industry, as well as in government and the nonprofit sector. Every organization is looking for people who have the latest knowledge on business strategy and best practices in leading organizations to success.

Ethics and reason-based decision making also play a significant role in the development of successful leaders.

That’s one of the main components of quality bachelor’s degree programs in organizational leadership, such as the one offered from Geneva College.  And with these classes now offered online, it makes it easier than ever to earn a degree while maintaining busy professional and personal lives. You can literally attend class from wherever you are, as long as you have an internet connection.

The Demand for Organizational Leaders

McKinsey and Co. conducted a survey of organizational executives that found a lack of quality leadership was one of the biggest challenges of any organization. This ranked higher than technology innovation or the use of data-driven strategies.

Understanding how 21st century workplaces operate is a key component for leaders today. They also need to master the soft skills that lead to great leaders, including communications, empathy, a strong ethical center and knowing how and when to seek advice from the right people.

The numbers show the demand. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects an 8 percent increase in the number of top executives by 2026. The BLS also lists a number of management positions with high demand and six figure salaries.

A bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership can help position graduates for jobs in many of these areas.

Jobs in Organizational Leadership

Organizational leadership is a degree program that prepares students for jobs in any sector of the economy. For example, a graduate could work as a:

  • Management Analyst, helping to guide business strategy and working with top executives to develop plans to achieve business goals
  • Operations Manager, overseeing a large department within an organization
  • Non-Profit Administrator, overseeing the activities of a nonprofit organization, including fundraising, budgeting and outreach
  • Government department director, overseeing the operations of a large operation within local, state or federal government

In all cases, an organizational leadership graduate will have the expertise to help make an operation both more effective in delivering a product or service and more efficient in its internal operations. These skills make graduates from an organizational leadership program attractive job candidates for director and manager positions.

For those interested in the top jobs within an organization, the quality of online degree programs and the wealth of job opportunities has created a better situation than ever to pursue your goal of a bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership.
